Rude staff. It’s an ethnic shop that sells not only South Asian products but also products from Middle East yet such products are not always easy to describe cuz the concept does not exist in English (who knows what “fermented red carrot juice” is?) I asked if someone in the shop speaks my language and the staff answered “English is the language of Scotland” o yeah really? :))) the same staff does not even greet me when I say hello, in English. Have some manners. Not coming again

I like it a lot and their cheddhas banana chips are scrumptious but they don’t restock it a lot I had to wait about a month for the next batch but since I love banana chips so much I had to go to different shops outside of the country

Şalgam suyu istemek için İngilizce "havuç suyu" diyince tezgahtarın anlamadığını fark ettim "Dükkanda Türkçe bilen biri var mı daha iyi açıklayabilirim" diye sordum ve "İskoçya'nın dili İngilizce'dir" diye abuk bir cevap aldım. Artık gitmiyorum. İnsanlar çok kaba, selam vermek iyi günler demek yok. Türk malları arıyorsanız Leith yolundaki Akdeniz marketi öneririm.

Massive collection of Asian, African, Middle Eastern food and spices but staff is rude. They’ve expanded over the last few years to include new employees and most are rude if not disrespectful. Products aren’t labelled and you only find out the prices at check out. Items generally overpriced compared to other stores. The store owners are usually kind and respectful but not the other staff. An example interaction : I went to buy 20 kg rice and I asked the staff how much it costs. They didn’t want to scan it on the shelf and didn’t want to lift the heavy item to the counter so said “ around £44-£45 , definitely less than £48”. I told them I’ll come the next day with a car. I got there the next day and lifted the heavy rice to the counter only to find out it was £55. When I asked the same staff about what they said earlier, the response was “ No it’s what it is. You want it or not”? And continued talking to someone on the phone.

Maqbool’s was my primary shop for everything international but not anymore.

Incredible selection of foods especially middle eastern.

Shop a bit messy and service quite cold but you can find some harder to find items here so it's worth it.

Like an Aladdin's Cave, with a vast range of exotic foods, oils, spices, dry goods & halal meat etc. Helpful staff who are happy to assist in tracking down an item on the well-stacked shelves. Thoroughly recommend to anyone who has an interest in preparing good home cooking
