I’ve witnessed and experienced racism against Black folks, and extreme rudeness to folks who don’t speak Spanish, at this store. They also often falsely advertise sales and refuse to honor sale prices. Sales stickers are often missing or mixed up. And I have even found expired food. When you bring this to the attention of management or staff, they are rude and dismissive. Many items are really expensive, which is not fair to the community. It would be one thing if the expensive items were high-quality, the store clean, and the staff kind, but they provide none of that and have no right to charge what they charge.

Ideal Supermarket is not just a place for grocery shopping; it’s a culture and an icon for the Little Caribbean in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Ideal has stood strong and kind with the people of the neighborhood, always doing its best—even before the idea of gentrification entered these communities. Ideal stays patient and steadfast, like the idea of home—a place of warmth and familiarity. It’s like the kindest grandmother you can always return to.

And of course, it’s a bit pricey sometimes for products that aren’t always great—but, you know, nobody’s perfect.

Do not support this establishment!!! I was profiled upon exiting this store. Two men approached me to inquire why I left without purchasing and then proceeded to accused me of stealing, stating that it was odd for me to walk to in the exit aisle. There are cameras all over the store and none were checked. They didn’t even check my bag. Just wanted to harass me!!! RACISTS!!!!!!

Heaven help you if you need help inthis store, some of the rudest and least helpful employees, either receive no training or maybe are trained to be unhelpful more likely. Bought some milk, which turned out to be spoiled, brought it back to exchange (not even refund, just swap it for another one) and was told that because it had been more than 24 hours, I couldn’t. Then wouldn’t let me throw out the spoiled milk there, had to carry it home again. There aren’t very many good options for groceries around here, but go elsewhere if you can.

Wanted to keep shopping at Ideal after loving the one in Bed Stuy so much, but this place is just the worst. Lots of expired food sitting out, prices on the shelves don't match what you get at the register, and staff is unhelpful.

I was deeply hurt when a family friend of mines said she was stop to show her recipet and her show inside her bag. The man was accusing her of stealing that hold the bags. This amazing women was a tenant I won't swear for anyone but she came Jamaica work hard at her live-in job respectful to others drama free and carried her self well.Took care of her girls with that living job money & pay her rent on time ..Never lived that criminal lifestyle.

These ppl have some nerves profiling AA thats why I just get my stuff and go with no smiles. They should go to the Bronx. But then I won't get rasin bread etc and the essential needs.

Firstly..what is the about this grocery that always digust me I can't even put word to describe....
Secondly ..what's the reason for posting grocery opens at 7am and run customers away saying no cashiers false advertisement incorrect store opening hours it's not just 1 day ...what is it really the problem with Ideal ?
