This location has been known to have harassing security guards. Personally the tall guy with the mask ALWAYS follows me and I confronted him about it and he said “doing my job” customer demographic is very large but he needs to look out for his own.
There was an incident a year ago which they’ve opened doors on people using the restrooms.
Employees stocking products do say Hi only as of recently so they’re definitely getting spoken to by management.
The nicest people can be found in the pet food aisle. I cannot find chicken under $12 anymore is financially straining

An employee was requested to send someone to the meat/seafood counter by me. The request was heard over the intercom. No one ever came. I wanted to purchase items stored in the case. I waited as well as observed while nearby. The male cashier did not greet me. He spoke about items he was putting in my bag. When customer service employees are hired, they state how they will provide excellent customer service to all. It is unfortunate that this rarely happens. Why do 9 1/2 cashiers/employees rarely offer me the bag credit? I tend to remember once leaving Ralph's.

I grew up in the Bay Area so never discovered Ralph's until the first time I was working in Southern California some decades back. Even in traveling, the Safeway/Von's/Pavilion stores you find in other states tend to be more my speed. Even the digital coupon site is better, although I will admit for some of the things I buy regularly, like dry cereal, I use Ralph's more.

But that's my point. If I wasn't coming in to use a coupon, I would NOT make the choice to shop at this location. The staff can be not just inconsiderate but point-blank rude, particularly those staffing the self-checkout lane. After 6 pm, not finding a line or only finding minimal staff to help is not uncommon.

The aisles are often crowded and not easy to navigate. In the evening, particularly if you need a cart, the entrance is a hassle to navigate - something that would not be difficult to adjust but frankly it comes across the way much of this store comes across, that shoppers NEED Ralph's more than this store wants to accommodate them.

Produce is decent to good if you must shop here, staples generally are well stocked. Plenty of parking but if you are on foot, especially if you are elderly with say a cane, walker, etc., entering the lot is not particularly safe. Other locations in Santa Monica are probably better for pedestrians, bike riders, etc.

Been here on and off for a while now. But anyways, went in to pick up a few things that a couple of other locations didn’t have. They unfortunately didn’t have any of those items. Okay, that’s fine.

Looked around to see what else they had and came across a section of coolers that were supposedly on “clearance”. There were at least 2-3 signs saying $29.99 (crossed out) and new price of $1.99. So I went to get someone to get them down and they took a look at what I was trying to buy. They saw the price and didn’t say anything. The person who was getting them down didn’t say anything about the price. Went to the checkout and it rang up as $98 and some change before the card price. Entered the card and it brought it down to $80 something. So I questioned them why it was that price when the sign said a totally different price. They checked and claimed it was some “pool floats or toys”. I asked them why they didn’t change the signs and they avoided it. They basically said “are you going to buy it or not”? So I left them. Seems like a bait and switch for the items. For $12-20 higher than other nearby stores and other stores have it on clearance for $1.50-2.50. So something seems odd here.

Update to this previous review, they listened. Plenty of baskets upon entrance now. Lets go!

"Without fail no matter the time of day it is a hassle to find a hand basket upon walking into the store. You have to find your way to the self checkout area to find a hand basket. Call me crazy but would it not benefit all parties to have empty hand baskets near the entrances of the store? Its ridiculous."

Fantastic selection of fresh produce at a reasonable price - they have everything you may be looking for. Whether you shop organic only or you shop for savings, I was impressed by the choices.

Lots of vegan and gluten-free options. Conveniently located right off Lincoln blvd, ample amount of free parking out front.

There’s a huge flower section here - I came in to purchase a couple simple bouquets of sunflowers and carnations. The carnations lasted for weeks, they are still in full bloom. Costed me about $20 for 2 medium sized, quality bouquets.

You need a code to use the restroom, you must be a customer to Ralphs.
